Easy Fried Flounder Fillet
The fish camp is one of my favorite places to eat. For those of you “not from ‘round here”, a fish camp is a southern seafood restaurant that is often very cafeteria style. I was a waitress at a fish camp all through high school and we still love to go there to eat over 20 years later. A staple at the fish camp is fried flounder fillet. Making it at home is even better.
This makes about 2-3 servings.
Notes: You can use catfish fillets or any fish you’d like, really! If you’d like to see my tartar sauce recipe click here.

Ingredients
flounder fillets (fresh, or thawed if previously frozen)
1 inch vegetable oil in deep skillet or pot
1-2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1 bag Zatarain’s Fish Fry mix
lemon wedges, for serving
Here’s how to make it
Heat oil to 350 degrees F over med-high heat.
While oil is heating, mix egg and milk and pour into a shallow dish.
Pour enough Zatarain’s fish fry (enough to coat the amount of fish you are frying) onto a separate shallow dish.
Take each fillet and coat it in the egg wash and then coat it in the fish fry mix.
Place fish directly into hot oil and repeat with each piece.
Turn fish as it’s frying so it will brown evenly. Remove when golden brown. (This should only take 3-5 minutes, just keep an eye on it).
Enjoy with lemon and tartar sauce.
