Inside-out Stromboli

 
 

Our family has recently fallen in love with stromboli and this unique twist makes it even easier to get the same great flavors!

This recipe makes about 8-10 servings.

Notes for this recipe - This would be great with bell peppers, pepperoni, etc. added in!

Inside-Out Stromboli uses canned biscuit dough and is so easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough, each biscuit cut into 4 pieces

  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage

  • 1/2 onion, diced

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 (14.5oz) can diced tomatoes, mostly drained

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese

Here’s how to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350. Spray 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.

  • Brown Italian sausage and onion together in a large skillet over med-high heat adding in seasonings.

  • Drain once browned and put back in skillet. Add diced tomatoes. Turn to med-low and simmer for 5-10 minutes.

  • Add sausage mixture to bottom of baking dish, and top with 1 cup cheese.

  • Place biscuit pieces on top of cheese and then finish by spreading the remaining cheese on top.

  • Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes!
