Crockpot Swiss Steak

This Swiss steak recipe has a tomato-based sauce and is so yummy!

This recipe makes 4 servings.

Notes for this recipe - You can use 1/2 cup white wine and 1 cup of beef broth if you prefer. You could also use diced tomatoes instead of tomato soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds cube steaks

  • 2 carrots, sliced into 1 inch pieces

  • 1 stalk celery, sliced into 1 inch pieces

  • ½ onion, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced

  • ¼ cup flour

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1.5 cups beef broth

  • 1 10oz can condensed tomato soup

  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp dried thyme leaves

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • corn starch for thickening optional

  • I chose not to use diced or crushed tomatoes, but condensed tomato soup. This made it thick enough that I didn’t need to add a cornstarch slurry at the end.
