Honey Jalapeno Pork Chops
Don’t let the name scare you! This doesn’t have to be spicy at all. The honey can tame it down for you if you prefer. But if you love pork chops, try this recipe! It is AMAZING.
This recipe makes about 4-6 servings.
Notes for this recipe - I added a couple of teaspoons of garlic powder to ours.
*If you want to watch the video of this being made, this recipe starts at the 12:41 mark.
Ingredients
4- 6 boneless pork chops
1/2 cup flour
any garlic and herb seasoning you like (to season pork chops prior to cooking)
1 Tbsp Better than Bouillon - beef flavor
2 cups hot water
1/4-1/2 cup honey
1-2 Tbsp pickled jalapenos, diced
vegetable oil (enough to cover the bottom of a large pan)
salt and pepper, to taste
1-2 tsp garlic powder (optional, but we loved it)
Here’s how to make it
Sprinkle pork chops with garlic and herb seasoning on both sides.
Place 1 pork chop at a time in a plastic baggie and pound with a meat tenderizer. Flip bag over and pound again on other side. Remove from the bag and place on a platter. Continue with all the pork chops.
Dredge pork chops in flour.
Heat oil on med-high in a large, deep frying pan.
Once oil is hot, brown pork chops on each side until golden brown (should take about 2-3 minutes per side)
Remove to a platter and add/remove oil as needed - You want about 4 Tbsp of oil remaining in the pan.
Sprinkle flour into the oil. You’ll want to use about the same amount of flour as oil (ex, 4 Tbsp). Whisk and cook for about 6-7 minutes (you don’t want raw flour taste).
Dissolve the Better than Bouillon in the water (make sure the water is very hot).
Add honey to the water as well and mix.
Slowly whisk water/honey mixture into the flour/oil mixture in the pan.
Bring gravy to a gentle simmer and add pickled jalapenos to the gravy and stir. (You’ll want to turn the heat down to med-low)
This is where you can taste test the sauce and add more honey if too spicy, or more garlic, salt and pepper ….you be the judge.
Add all the pork chops back into the pan and cover with gravy.
Cover the pan and gently simmer for 30-40 minutes.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes!
