Nana’s Buttermilk Biscuits

Nana Elizabeth was a great cook. But the one thing she taught me that I still make to this day are her buttermilk biscuits.

This makes about 12 servings.

*If you want to watch the video of this being made, this recipe starts at the 7:06 mark.

My nana’s biscuits are my favorite.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups self-rising flour

  • 1.5 cups buttermilk

  • 3.5 Tbsp Crisco

Here’s how to make it

  • Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

  • Add wet ingredients to the flour.

  • Mix with hands.

  • Put onto a floured counter and roll to about .5 inch thick.

  • Cut and place on a baking sheet.

  • Bake at 500 for 10 minutes.

  • Rub a stick of butter over the tops of the warm biscuits for extra flavor!
