The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Even if you aren’t a baker (like me), you can make these cookies and everyone will love them! These are hands-down the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had and I make them every single year!

This makes about 3.5-4 dozen.

NOTES Use great quality semi-sweet chocolate chips for the best results!

So easy and so delicious.  They are soft and gooey!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter flavored Crisco

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3 cups un-sifted flour

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet are my fav)

Here’s how to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 375 if you plan to bake right away. BUT, these turn out the best if you make the dough and refrigerate it for about a half hour.

  • Use a mixer to cream the Crisco, sugar, and light brown sugar.

  • Add eggs, vanilla, salt and baking soda and mix.

  • Gradually add the flour, stirring by hand as it gets too thick.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

  • Optional - refrigerate dough for 30 minutes. (Then preheat your oven before you take them out of the fridge)

  • Form 1 inch dough balls and bake on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

  • Bake for 7-9 minutes until lightly browned- around the edges. The center will still be soft. (My first batch usually takes about 10 minutes and the others take about 8.)

  • Let sit on the cookie sheet to cool for about 2 minutes before carefully transferring them to a cooling rack.

  • Store in an airtight container. Tip - place a piece of bread inside the container with the cookies to keep the cookies extra soft!
